Electromagnetic scattering on spherical polydispersions [by] D. Deirmendjian. - xx, 290 p. illus. 24 cm.

Bibliography: p. 143-148.

An investigation is described of the elementary scattering and absorption properties of Mie particles. This report contains a set of tables, produced by application of the Mie theory and the use of a digital computer, in which are listed the scattering parameters characteristic of polydispersions that are likely to be found in the terrestrial and planetary atmospheres, and perhaps also in interplanetary and interstellar space. The detailed tables in Part II contain basic Mie scattering parameters needed to describe the intensity and polarization produced by all particles in an elementary and representative volume of space, and may be used in the formulation of the radiative transfer problem in an extended medium. The accompanying test Part I provides a theoretical background for the tables, explains their use, and illustrates some applications.
